Hi! Welcome to my first grade classroom. This is my fourteenth year at Avery's Creek and my twelfth year as a teacher. This is my fourth year teaching first grade after teaching fourth grade for eight years. I greatly enjoy teaching and I love being part of our Avery's Creek Elementary family. This is a diverse and wonderful place to learn. Being a part of each child's life as they learn and grow is what makes being a teacher such as important and special job.
I grew up in Buncombe County and graduated from Enka High
School. I am a graduate of Mars Hill College with a degree in Elementary Education and a K-12 Reading Licensure. I also have a Masters Degree in Elementary Education.
I feel that it is important to promote an atmosphere of respect, safety, and trust in my classroom. Therefore, I work hard to build a sense of community among my students, and I emphasize the idea of teamwork. I value cooperation and collaboration among the students in my classroom. I also believe that great things can happen when we, the teacher, student and parents work together!
