Music
Melody McGarrahan
Every Class goes to Music once a week. Across the school year we learn
about steady beat, tempo (the speed of music, fast or slow), melody (how
notes go up and down), dynamics (the volume of music, loud and soft),
notation (how to read music), and how to move to the beat, whether that
be clapping, marching, etc. We learn to play various rhythm instruments
(sticks, tambourine, drum, etc.). We also learn some seasonal
(appropriate holiday) music, and songs to perform at programs. Fourth
Graders learn about the families of instruments that play in an
orchestra; Strings, Woodwinds, Brass, and Percussion. We also go on a
field trip to see a Symphony Orchestra play a concert.
