Videotaping and Photography
Buncombe County Schools’ policy does not require parental permission for students to be photographed, videotaped and/or interviewed by system employees or media on routine school topics, activities for public information, awards, and honors of instructional and/or promotional purposes. Parental permission must be given, however, to photograph, videotape and/or interview children with physical or mental disabilities if they will be identified as children with physical or mental disabilities. Parents, guardians or eligible students may request not to be photographed, videotaped and/or interviewed by notifying the school in writing.
Buncombe County Schools is in the process of reviewing its website to ensure compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
