Meet the Teacher
Welcome to Dual Language 3rd Grade at Avery's Creek Elementary!
Jill Weil

I am very happy to be working with your child at Avery's Creek Elementary!  As you know, this school is a place of cultural and linguistic diversity.  From an early age our students learn to be global citizens and to communicate and build friendships with children from a wide variety of countries, cultures, and experiences.  The Dual Language program is dedicated to creating bilingual, biliterate, and bicultural students who are ready to enter the global workforce.  I teach English Language Arts and Science in English, while my coteacher, Katerine Castano, teaches Math and Social Studies in Spanish.
This is my 9th year of teaching.  I started my journey as an educator while traveling in Europe and Mexico (I taught English to support my travel), but later returned to the United States to earn a Master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Western Carolina University.  After 4 happy years at Oakley Elementary and 1 year at a private international boarding high school in Utah, I have settled in to the Avery's Creek Community to serve as a language specialist.
